This kit was built basically straight from the box with a few minor modifications:
1. Two loops were added to the fore and aft portions of the upper hull. Reference pictures of other Type XXVII u-boats show them. ICM should really have included them as part of the kit.
2. Extra triggers were added to the torpedoes. The kit only supplies two and from what I can tell there should actually be four.
3. A clear observation dome was added to the hatch on the conning tower. The ICM kit has the observation dome molded opaque in the kit's light grey plastic.

I have found one picture of this particular u-boat, white 22, and it appears that ICM has missed a second row of water escape outlets on the sail that should be located above the row of outlets located just above the hull. I built this kit as a diversion from my regular modelling and I really didn't feel the urge to add them so they kits parts were not modified to make this correction.
